Overview of position
Scanners for Capital Well Services will perform inspection on pipe coming out of the hole on various well sites. The main function of this position is to look for imperfections in the tubing and designate tubing as usable or non-usable utilizing Electromagnetic technology.
Reports To
Field Supervisor, Client Company Representative
Responsibilities
- Drive equipment to and from location
- Complete required paperwork (Hot work, JSA, LOTO)
- Rig up, which includes backing up and off-loading scan box to floor and making sure work area is clear to prevent injury
- Run sensor cables from box to truck in un-trafficed area, mark area off with cones
- Set up job parameters in computer
- Operate scanning devices including connecting to pipe and output (recorder) devices for reading of results
- Inspect interior of pipe for surface imperfections using optical instrument
- Oversee pipe stress analysis, assuring compliance with all applicable codes pertaining to piping systems and strain sensitive equipment
- Reject materials not meeting specifications
- Identify and/or properly mark materials with pass or fail
- Rig down job
- Maintain and clean equipment and vehicle
- Perform and properly record maintenance and repairs on vehicle
- Work respectfully and in close contact with Client Company Representative
- Be on call for job dispatch
- Represent Capital Well Services in a professional manner at all times
- Follow all safety rules and regulations as they pertain to the position
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Clean driving record with acceptable MVR and current driver’s license
- Basic computer skills
- 2 years previous wellhead tubing experience
- Good communication skills
- Must be able to read and write in English
- Ability to interact with others and communicate effectively
- Ability to understand and comply with safety regulations
