Overview of position
The main task of this position is to assist the Derrick Hand and Operator in several functions including tripping pipe, handling tongs, making connections, cleaning, maintaining tools and equipment. Additional tasks will range from assisting with laying new pipe, to removal of old tubing, general construction, moving equipment such as generators, assisting in rig up and rig down activities and many things in between.

Responsibilities
- Perform services on well as part of a 3-5 person workover rig crew
- Assist in loading and off-loading pipe and other items from the truck/trailer to rig
- Picking up and laying down pipe
- Driving a crew truck when necessary
- Lift, remove, install and operate wellhead pump, jacks, and perform other tasks as designated by the Tool Pusher, Operator, or Client Company Representative
- Position, lift, attach install and work with matting boards, tubing, rods, casing, and associated well equipment such as rod strippers, polish rods, etc.
- Operate rod wrenches, tongs, elevators, and other associated rig tools and equipment
- Report safety hazards, accidents, near misses or maintenance issues to the Safety Consultant
- Participate in daily work plans, JSA’s , and safety meetings
Qualifications
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written
- Basic problem solving and organizational skills
- Able to bend, stoop and lift objects up to 75 pounds for extended periods of time
- Able to work in a team environment
- Able to perform essential functions in a fast paced and high stress environment
- Possess exceptional skills and the ability to work with current and potential clients both internal and external
- Must pass drug and alcohol screening
